Last updated: February 2, 2023

Web Mountain is in the process of converting ownership of the RUC design and software to an open source project. Currently, there is NO information that is being collected on users of these sites or the RUC. If at any time in the future, we do decide to collect user information, we will inform you of the change in policy.

Web Mountain Remote Universal Controller (RUC) and our mobile apps

The Web Mountain RUC controller is an intelligent controller used to manage UPB home automation devices via a mobile app, from any browser, using your voice (from Amazon Alexa), or by schedules. The RUC is connected to your home network. No information from the RUC other than user and password (required for Amazon Alexa) is collected or stored on any external servers. In order to allow the mobile app to connect to the RUC to send control commands, the user of the app must provide the following information under Settings on the app: Local IP address (the IP address of the RUC on the local network), the name of the local home network, the RUC's individually assigned remote address (www.wmtremote.com:1xxxx), and the user name and password. In order to simplify connection to the local home network, the mobile app will ask for permission to use the location services on the mobile device in order to ascertain when the device is connected to the local network and when it's remote (any network other than the local network). When the mobile device is connected to the local network, the device will use the connection details specified under Local Host. When the device is connected to any other network, the device will use the network connection details specified under Remote Host. None of this information is ever transferred from the mobile device to any other server and is only found on the device itself.
